The picture is showing me when I had run 7 kilometers and just started my second lap out of three. I show with my finger that I just completed my first lap. It was also people who ran just one lap (7 km) and people who ran two laps. My day from the beginning:
- I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. yesterday but it was hard to fall asleep due to the tivoli Augsburger Plärrer (I live close to Plärrer) and I could hear noice from there. I slept not very deep through the night. I woke up at 3:50 a.m. to the sound of what I thought was someone knocking on the entrance downstairs. I didn’t care to do anything, I went to the kitchen and drunk some water.
- I had breakfast at 07:00 a.m., three sandwiches with eggs, porridge and juice.
- I started to bike the 11 kilometers to Kissing at 08:50 a.m. and I arrived at 09:30, half an hour before the start. It was a good warm up but I ran a little bit around the start area too and it had just started to rain a little bit.
- The first part of the track – the straight road along the railway – was very boring to run (see map of the track on an earlier blog post). It was also asphalt. The second half of the lap was better, the gravel ground along Lech enabled me to think less and enter the inner “bubble” where everything is seamless. That is the stage
- The rain stopped at the second lap. I ran with my old shoes, the three year old shoes which my feet are used to and I had no problems at all (compared with my new shoes which are not yet “ready” for longer distances).
- The runners was spread out on the second lap but I had one person which were running in my tempo so we could keep a good phase and help each other to lead but I was 17 seconds faster than him in the end.
- My finish time was 1:31:45, which I am very happy with even though my goal was 1:30:00.
- (4:38 min/ km on average).
- It was 90 male runners who ran the 21 kilometers, I finished as the 22nd position. The winner had a time of 1:11:50 and the slowest man had 2:16:53.
- If I count all half marathon runners, including women, I finished at the 25th position out of 114 runners.
- I stretched, took a fruit and some water and biked home again in the increasing rain. I was at home at 1 p.m.
- At 10 in the evening, I got a text message from the “running- coach” who has recruited me to one of his running teams (and will recruit me to another running competition). He greeted me to the nice performance and I understood that he had looked it up on the website of Kissinger Halbmarathon.
